Siying Alice Han is an architectural designer based in New York.
The way she sees it, architecture is a storyteller; telling us the responsive relationship between (human) beings and the milieu. These stories are generated (intentionally while inevitably) amongst individuals, communities, and urban structures with plots constantly transforming dictated by geo-cultural patterns and socio-economical forces. Architecture and urban design are, thus, media which encourage exchanges and conversations in-between, visually, physically, and mentally.
Her multi-cultural background motivates and facilities her experiments in architecture, urban design, photography, and publishing. She commits to interdisciplinary thinking and making in multiple scales and dimensions. She has long been interested in reframing and expanding the prior knowledge to an infinite possibility of new materials. She does not believe in the perception of “boundaries”.
She earned her Master of Architecture in Urban Design at Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 2021. She explored multi-faceted possibilities within architectural and urban dimensions through design technologies and digital media, as well as social studies and philosophy. Prior to graduate study, she received her Bachelor of Architecture with Honors and Photography Minor from Pratt Institute in 2018, and attended the Summer Studio at University College London Bartlett School of Architecture in 2015. She has previously practiced architecture and urban design at Kengo Kuma & Associates, Carlos Arnaiz Architects (CAZA), and Urbanus Architecture & Design. She is currently a Junior Architect at the New York office of Arquitectonica.
